Portuguese Lawyer and member of the European Lawyers Bars (CCBE).
Marisa started her career as a lawyer, but she has always been interested in exploring other fields. While studying, she worked at an art gallery where she understood that the creative world would always inspire her and impact the way she would seek legal solutions. That became the moto when Marisa created her first law firm, founded with a colleague in 2010.
Through a myriad of complementary certifications, such as of professional trainer, mediator or data protection officer, just to refer a few, and with the support of the empirical experience of her practice, later also in the corporate legal and compliance in-house environment, she began to focus on the design of legal services, creating MQM LEGAL, based in the Netherlands and Oporto, as the Founding Partner and General Counsel (CLO). Marisa now focus in legal strategy, innovation and technology.
Besides her professional path, Marisa stretches her agenda in between being a Guest Lecture of the University of Applied Sciences of The Hague(2016), now member of the PAC ( Program Advisory Committee), Trainer of the Holland Maritime Training Center and Guest speaker of the Open Source Academy, Idea Owner OOC, and is now a participant of the Professional Diploma on Privacy Management by Maastricht University, among others.
Active member of the legal community and voluntary work, Marisa is Ambassador for Portugal of ELTA (European Legal Tech Association) – co-founder of ELTA Women in Tech Group, the Instituto de Innovación Legal, in Spain and the Legal Creatives, in Canada. She is also Interim Director of Arise NL and President of “Humanity of Things” – Digitech Literacy Association & Agency, both created in 2018, counting with an amazing team in Portugal and the Netherlands.
Much more than a legal person, Marisa is a generalist focused in meta-law and a human-centric legal ecosystem.
